PezCam Relocated
Yes, the
PezCam has moved. It's now located outside of my
PEZ Office in preparation for a Halloween event on Monday from 3-5pm EDT. Tune in then to see snapshots of brave kids coming by to get some candy.
I have no idea what the pics will look like since we'll only have dim lighting and will be adding fog if everything works out. Though you won't hear it over the web, we're also adding spooky music from Halloween, Psycho, The Exorcist, Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and such. And the web cam now greets you with a motion-activated "W-E-L-C-O-M-E-!".

A Bad Day at the Office
This is not necessarily what you'd like to see on your office hallway.
Two gasoline cans.
How did that get by our crack security force?

Sarah Duke Gardens

As
mentioned earlier, we spent several hours at the wonderful
Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke last weekend.
The
photos speak for themselves.

A Family Reunion...

Just isn't a family reunion without a cupcake and a face full of icing. Why bother peeling off the paper, when you can go straight for the good stuff, right?
Notice the "cookie on a stick" waiting patiently on Victoria's plate.

Happy Birthday Melissa!

Today is my wonderful wife
Melissa's birthday!
The girls made her several art projects and we've made a cake which we'll ice this afternoon.
Yesterday we took a family trip over to
The Sarah P. Duke Gardens to celebrate. Even though it's only half an hour away, we had never been. Hopefully I'll post some pictures later in the week.
So study up on how to say
"Happy Birthday" in 161 different languages so you'll be ready the next time you see her.

Karma Is A Funny Thing

Set your TiVos for NBC tonight at 9pm Eastern for
My Name Is Earl. You won't regret it. And if you do, what's the big deal? It's only a 1/2 hour of disk space that you'll reuse anyway.
This show is very much like
The Big Lewboski without all the profanity. But as strange as this show is, it's perhaps easier to follow than
The Dude.
Earl is a care-free guy that's won $100,000 in the lottery and had an epiphany. He decides to use this opportunity to correct the
list of wrongs in his life. From second-hand smoke and littering to fixing elections and football games, Earl plans to fix everything. It's all about good karma.
A strange show, I admit, but you'll laugh out loud if you give it a chance. My favorite comedy since
Seinfeld.

Writeboard, a "Web 2.0" App
37signals has yet another great product in their recently announced
Writeboard. They already provide
Basecamp,
Backpack, and
Ta-da List, which are also worth clicking thru to if you're unfamiliar with them.
Writeboard allows you to collaborate with others online to write, edit, and review some text. Any text. It's one of those "
Web 2.0" apps that is really changing everything. Why should your data be tied to your computer? Why should your applications be tied to your computer?
How many of you have already abandoned local email clients in favor of Gmail or some other web-based email service? If you haven't,
you should.
How many people still load maps from CDs onto your local computer? If you do,
please stop.
Web 2.0 is here.
Writeboard is free. You can share your document with whoever you wish. They make changes, you make changes, you use the comments section to discuss proposed changes. It has version control built in. You can go back to any saved version and compare any versions you like. There's even support for text formatting, lists, and links.
Instead of emailing that document back and forth, collaborate via the web. Or use it just for yourself. You could store reference information there, retain historical versions, and access it from any computer on the internet. Lots of applications.
