GeoWoodstock 5!

I spent Friday night and all day Saturday at
GeoWoodstock 5. This is a large yearly gathering of geocachers and this year it happened to be in Raleigh at the Fairgrounds. Over 1600 geocachers were expected.
It was surprising to look at the out-of-state license plates in the parking area, the rows of RVs, the tents, the kayaks. We saw cars decked out with multiple GPS'es, laptop dashboard mounts, "GeoWoodstock or BUST!" windows, and lots of geocaching dogs.
The event was great, we met lots of geocachers from all over the US. There were also cachers from Canada, Central America, Sweden, Germany, and the UK. We saw a screening of the award-winning
Adventures in Geocaching documentary, witnessed the
Original Can of Beans (first geocaching trade item place in the original geocache or "the most photographed can of beans in the history of mankind").
Amid the festivities, we found 41 caches! Our previous record was 23. And, of course, we ran into lots of cachers around town, some more than once.
