TiVo reports loss, but beats estimates by 9 cents a share

I guess this is
good news for
TiVo as they approach profitability. Though I have seen some concerns lately about how long the relationship with
DirecTV will last and if DirecTV will develop their own box like many other providers are doing.
Judging both by the quality of other boxes (
Dish,
TimeWarner) and the length of time it takes DirecTV to roll out new releases from TiVo (still no HMO for DirecTiVo users), I'd say the consumer would greatly benefit from sticking with TiVo. TiVo also has the brand recognition at a level akin to that of
Xerox and
Kleenex, where recording something on your personal video recorder is now called "tivoing".
